Drones: Flight zones - here you are allowed to fly
If you have a drone, you are only allowed to fly with it in certain flight zones and must keep a distance of more than 100 meters from no-fly zones. Which areas in Germany are considered no-fly zones and which apps help you find out, we show you here.
Drones are not allowed to fly in these flight zones
Even if you only use a drone for private purposes, there are certain rules you have to follow. For example, not only are you allowed to fly your drone up to a maximum of 100 meters, but you are also only allowed to use it in certain flight zones. According to the 2017 Drone Ordinance, for example, flying over private property is prohibited unless you have permission from the owner to do so. There is also a ban on flying in the airspace above hospitals, military installations, power plants and prisons. Furthermore, you are not allowed to fly over accident sites, crowds, trunk roads as well as nature reserves with your droneDrones: These apps give an overview of the flight zones
To always keep an eye on whether you are allowed to fly your drone everywhere and are not in a no-fly zone, there are various recommended apps.- So the German Air Traffic Control (DFS) has published its own app that not only shows you the rules that apply to drone flights in Germany, but also informs you whether you are in a no-fly zone. The installation and use of the app is thereby free of charge and this is available for both Android and iOS devices.
- Also available free of charge for iPhone, iPad and Android devices is the app "Map2Fly", which shows you all flight zones or no-fly zones throughout Germany.
- To use your drones even when traveling abroad, the AirMap app is recommended, which informs you about the flight zones and flight rules in 20 countries.
