In Age of Wonders - Planetfall you are allowed to draw on six factions:

• Vanguards: Humanoids with a focus on military technology, strong in ranged combat
• Syndicate: Stealth specialists with psi skills and excellent stealth
• Amazons: Nature-loving race with affinity for the forest and genetically enhanced animals
• Dvar: Dwarf-like engineer race with strong manufacturing industry
• Kir'ko: Insect-like alien race with large, fast-growing population and swarm mentality
• Assembly: Cyborg race with strong research and troop restoration

The six factions are very different from each other, both visually and in content. This is another plus point of Age of Wonders - Planetfall, as it results in high replayability.
