ZDF-Mediathek: Age rating - what to look out for

With the ZDF-Mediathek you can access a selected program of the channel online. In addition, it is possible to watch live TV to see what is currently on ZDF. However, some content is under an age restriction. To be able to watch these before 10 p.m., some conditions must be met.

What to look out for with ZDF's age rating

If you want to watch content from the ZDF Mediathek that is subject to an age restriction, you must first meet certain requirements. These apply to shows from the Mediathek that you want to watch before 10pm. Note that you must be at least 16 years old and have a German ID card, passport or residence permit. Alternatively, you can clear it through a passport issued by an EU country, Switzerland or Turkey. However, there are other points to consider.

1. You also need a free ZDF account for age clearance.
2. Log in on the ZDF website with your login details.
3. Then select the country from which your ID comes. Klicken Sie danach auf „Weiter“.
4. Nun müssen Sie Ihre Ausweis-Prüfnummer eintragen, um Ihr Alter bestätigen zu können.
5. Erstellen Sie abschließend eine Jugendschutz-Pin und schließen Sie den Vorgang ab.
6. Nun ist es möglich, altersbeschränkte Inhalte auf allen Plattformen, auf denen Sie auf die ZDF-Mediathek zugreifen können, anzuschauen. Hierfür müssen Sie lediglich auf Anfrage Ihre gewählte PIN eingeben.
