Android 5.0 Lollipop: Enable USB debugging

If you want to enable USB debugging on the Android 5.0 operating system version called Lollipop, there are only a few steps required. However, before you even see the option, you need to unlock the developer options.

How to enable USB debugging on Android 5.0 Lollipop

USB debugging is a handy feature thanks to which you can check and access your smartphone from PC. If you use the Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system on your smartphone, you need to unlock the developer options before you can enable USB debugging with a simple check mark.

First step: Developer options

  1. To enable the developer options first, open the settings on your smartphone.
  2. Switch to the "Options" tab.
  3. Here you will find the "Device Information" or "About Phone" menu at the very bottom.
  4. In this menu, in turn, there is the "Build Number" entry. Tap on it, nothing happens. Nevertheless, tap it now quite often in succession until the developer options are unlocked.

Now you can enable USB debugging

  1. Now that the developer options are displayed to you, it is quite easy to turn on USB debugging. To do so, open the settings on your Android again.
  2. Also in the "Options" menu, you will find the newly unlocked "Developer Options" menu at the very bottom.
  3. In this menu, you will find the "Debugging" section, among others. Check here the entry for "USB Debugging".
If USB debugging is enabled, a stolen phone can be unlocked. Therefore, turn off the function in the same way again, if you do not need it just now.
