Flinkster: DB car sharing costs at a glance

Deutsche Bahn has also long been active in car sharing. If you're thinking about signing up, learn all about the costs and the system behind it in our guide.

Special model: there are a few things to keep in mind when booking Flinkster.

Car sharing is still on the rise in major German cities.

Flinkster: hourly prices as a basis - plus kilometer price

Unlike other services such as SIXT share or SHARE NOW, Flinkster does not work with minute prices.
  • The smallest time unit when booking is one hour. The cost depends on the vehicle category, starting at 3 euros per hour for the mini class (e.g. Toyota Aygo).
  • However, this is only the (more expensive) daily rate from 6 am to 10 pm. Outside these hours, the prices are significantly lower due to lower demand.
  • In addition, you can also rent the car directly for longer periods, up to one day. Even several days are possible.
  • In addition, there is always a consumption fee per kilometer. In the mini class are 25 cents, the maximum is 30 cents (van class).
Flinkster offers itself because of the hourly booking especially for longer trips. For short trips of a few minutes, other services are cheaper. Since you can pick up and drop off Flinkster cars only at stations or in certain parking quarters, depending on the city (so no real "free-floating"), you also have to take this logistical factor into account. Also note that the registration with Flinkster costs 9 euros once, if you do not have a BahnCard. With BahnCard, registration is free of charge. Thanks to VideoIdent, you can complete the entire process online, which is advisable since checking your driver's license in the store would cost another 20 euros. Customer cards are also not free; however, using them exclusively via app is.
