Steam: Download breaks - what you can do about it
Through the Steam gaming platform you can buy games and manage them through your library. To launch a game, you must first download and install it. However, if the download breaks, this can have different causes.
What you can do if the download from Steam breaks
If you want to download a game from Steam, but the download keeps breaking, this can have different causes. If you want to fix the problem, it is necessary to proceed step by step.- First, check your Internet connection. If this is broken, then the download also breaks. If necessary, restart your router.
- Test whether your Internet connection breaks regularly and use a LAN connection instead of WLAN if necessary.
- Electively change the download server via Steam. To do this, open the client and go to the top left on "Steam". Then select "Settings".
- On the left side, switch to the "Download" section. Here you can change the "Download Region" via a dropdown menu. Select the region that is closest to yours.
- Stop the download and launch Steam. After that, try downloading the game again. If this does not help, uninstall the client completely from your system and then reinstall it.
