eBay: Seller does not deliver - what you can do

Ebay is an online marketplace where users can offer any items. Then you have the option to buy them at auction or via a buy-it-now. If you have already paid, but the seller does not deliver, then you have various options to choose from.

What you can do if a seller on eBay does not deliver

If you have purchased an item at an auction or via the buy-it-now option on eBay, but have not received it because the seller does not deliver, then several steps are necessary.
  1. If your item has not been delivered, then it is important that you first contact the seller directly. To do this, go to the website of the merchant and go via "My eBay" on the left side to "Overview of your purchases".
  2. Right next to the corresponding order click on "More actions". Now select "Clarify problem". Here you can choose as a reason "I have not received my item" and describe the problem to the seller. If this has not reported even after 10 days or there was no agreement, further steps are necessary.
  3. Have you paid via PayPal, credit card, direct debit or invoice, you can also try to claim the eBay Buyer Protection. In any case, it may be worthwhile to contact eBay directly.
  4. If you have paid with PayPal, you can also ask PayPal for help, because in most cases you will at least get your money back.
  5. If all has not helped, it is necessary to take legal action. Here it is worthwhile to consult a lawyer.
