Can I only read Amazon eBooks with the Kindle?

Actually, only eBooks in Amazon formats can be read with the Kindle. These are mostly files with the extensions AZW or AZW3. On all other eBook readers, however, the EPUB format is the most common. To also use EPUBS and other formats on the Kindle, you need a converter.

How to read all eBooks on a Kindle

A Kindle is different from other eBook readers on the market. With a Kindle, you can only read eBooks from Amazon itself. Other formats like EPUB, PDF or CBR cannot be opened here. However, you don't have to miss out on these books because of that. Instead, you can convert the eBooks into a suitable format. To do this, it is best to use the free program Calibre.

Convert eBooks with Calibre

1. Open the website of Calibre.
2. Click on "Download".
3. Select your operating system.
4. Click "Download Calibre" and install the program.
5. Open Calibre.
6. Click "Add Books" in the upper left corner.
