CRC error while unpacking: What you can do
When unpacking .zip and .rar files, the "CRC" error occasionally occurs and the file archive is not unpacked. For .rar files, you can solve the problem by entering the command to unpack them from the command line. To do this, you only need a few simple commands.
What does the CRC error during unpacking mean?
When you try to unpack a file archive, you may receive the error message "CRC". For .zip files, this is usually because you entered the wrong password on an encrypted archive. You may also need to re-download the file. For .rar files, you can solve the problem via the Windows command line instead.Fix the error
- Create a new folder on the desktop.
- Copy the archive into the folder.
- Open Windows Explorer.
- Go to "(C:)" and open the "Programs" folder.
- Select "WinRAR" and locate the file "WinRAR.exe".
- Copy the file into the folder you created in step 1 as well.
- Enter "command line" in the Windows search bar and press Enter.
- In the console, enter the command "cd Desktop" and press Enter.
- Then enter the command "cd New Folder".
- Tippen Sie den Befehl „rar e -kb … rar“ und ersetzen Sie die Punkte durch den Namen Ihrer .rar-Datei.
- Sie finden nun die entpackten Dateien in Ihrem Ordner.
