jDownloader unpacking error: What you can do now

It may happen that jDownloader reports you an unpacking error when you try to unpack downloaded files. This error message is either because you have installed an outdated version of the program or you are trying to unpack a RAR archive that jDownloader does not support.

  1. If you receive a message from jDownloader that there is an unpacking error and the files cannot be unpacked, first update the program.
  2. Whether you use jDownloader on the computer or via Android, updates to the program often fix buggy features of previous versions.

jDownloader unpacking errors with RAR archives

  1. On the other hand, a known problem with jDownloader is with files created with WinRAR5. Archives of this kind cannot be unpacked with jDownloader already for years. However, it is hoped that the developers get the problem under control with one of the upcoming updates.
  2. Let certain files can not be unpacked, use either the tool WinRAR or 7zip. To be able to unpack the files with other programs, disable the option "Automatic unpacking" in jDownloader. To do this, navigate to the settings and uncheck "Archive Unpacker".
  3. If the unpacking does not work even with these two programs, you may have entered the password incorrectly or the archive is damaged. In this case, download it again. If possible, download the desired files from another source that is error-free.
