Valorant: Overview of the maps available so far

At the official release in summer 2020, Valorant launched with four maps that applied to all game modes. Our guide presents these briefly and clearly to help you get started in the game.

Four wins? At release, there were four maps in Valorant in very different designs.

With four maps, the assortment is not too extensive at the beginning, but sufficient. More maps are to be added over time.

Valorant: The four starting maps explained

The four maps that were available at the release of Valorant can be characterized as follows:
  • Bind: Things don't get too complicated in Bind - two spike areas and relatively simple paths keep the focus on the essentials. The teleporter can add to the dynamic.
  • Ascent: The Italian-themed map features sturdy bomb doors that can add a special component to the match. Because of the many tight spots, Ascent is popular with defenders.
  • Split: The special feature of this map is the two levels connected by climbing ropes. Many matches are decided here in the middle.
  • Haven: Here there are three possible placements for the spike, which can stretch the matches and make new tactical demands.
Since you have no influence on the map rotation, it is essential to know all four maps at least in the basics. This happens automatically by playing and remembering particularly important parts. Over time, you can use this to your own advantage and become even more strategic.
