Show Windows 10 Recycle Bin in Explorer - how it works

In Windows 10, the Recycle Bin can only be found on the desktop by default. However, with a trick you can additionally display the Recycle Bin in Windows Explorer. Learn here how to do this and what you need to keep in mind.

How to show the Recycle Bin in Explorer

If you want the Recycle Bin to be displayed not only on the desktop but also in Explorer, you need to make a change in the Windows registry.
  1. Call the Run dialog of Windows with the deed combination [Windows] and [R].
  2. Enter the command "regedit" in the input field and confirm the entry with the Enter key or by clicking "OK". It then opens the registry editor of Windows.
  3. Call the directory CLSID\ via the path "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\". There you will find the subkey with the name: {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
  4. If the subkey does not exist, you must create it. To do this, right-click on "CLSID" and select "New" from the menu, then "Key". Finally, name the new subkey with {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}.
  5. Once you have selected the key, you will see the contents on the right in the editor. Right-click there in a free space and select the "New" option.
  6. Select "DWORD value (32-bit) and enter "System.IsPinnedToNameSpaceTree" as the value name.
  7. Then double-click the new entry and change the value from 0 to 1. Confirm the change with "Ok".
Now open the explorer, you will also find the recycle bin there in the navigation.
