Disable Slack Account: It's that easy

Accounts on Slack can be disabled in the settings. You will then no longer be able to send messages in chat or retrieve files. If you are a member of multiple workspaces, you have to deactivate the accounts individually for this.

Disabling an account on Slack

Slack is a messenger designed for businesses and large project groups. To chat with other members here, you need to be a member of a Workspace. You are invited to a workspace and then create an account. You can be a member of multiple workspaces and thus have multiple accounts on Slack. The individual accounts can be deactivated in the settings. This has the advantage that you no longer receive notifications and no longer actively participate in the workspace. Unlike deleting an account, however, deactivation does not result in your messages and files being deleted from the chat.

How to proceed to delete your account

1. Open Slack on your computer.
2. On the top left, you will see your name. Click on it.
3. Select "Profile & Account" from the menu.
4. Click the three dots in the upper right corner.
5. Select "More Actions".
6. Click "Open Account Settings".
7. Unten finden Sie die Option „Account deaktivieren“.
8. Klicken Sie darauf und wählen Sie dann „Deaktiviere deinen Account“.
9. Bestätigen Sie den Vorgang, indem Sie Ihre Zugangsdaten eingeben.
