"Access to this folder has been denied"

If you want to access important data from a folder, but it cannot be opened because Windows denies access, this is quite annoying. The fear that the files will be lost quickly arises. Below we will show you what you can do about such an error message.

Access denied: fix error

If you are shown that access to the folder has been denied, it is usually related to the fact that the current user is not the owner of the folder that was accessed. Here's how to fix the problem:

1. Click once with your right mouse button on the folder you want to open and then select "Properties".
2. In the "Properties" section you will now find the "Security" tab. Select this and then click on "Advanced".
3. The following now opens a new window that displays the security settings for this folder.
4. Select "Owner" and then "Change". Enter your user name as the owner and finally click "Apply". Bestätigen Sie die Änderung mit „OK“.
5. Zum Abschluss können Sie das Fenster wieder schließen.
6. Zu guter Letzt klicken Sie den Ordner erneut mit der rechten Maustaste an und gehen wieder in den Bereich „Sicherheit“. Entfernen Sie bei den Berechtigungen alle Häkchen, die bei „Verweigern“ gesetzt wurden und bestätigen Sie alles mit „OK“. Sie können den Ordner nun ungestört öffnen und Ihre Daten einsehen.
