Copying DVDs with VLC Player - these steps are necessary
If you still have DVDs at home, it is a good idea to make a backup copy. DVDs usually last up to 30 years. However, with a copy that you save on a computer, you'll get something out of it for longer. To perform the operation, you can use VLC Player, for example.
How to copy a DVD with VLC Player
With VLC Player, you can easily record a DVD. This is especially useful if you want to make a backup copy and store it on an external hard drive. Note that some DVDs have copy protection. In this case, you will not be able to make a backup copy, especially since this is not allowed.- First, open VLC Player or download it from a website of your choice. Follow the instructions and install the program.
- Now go to "Tools" and select the "Settings" option. If you use the program on macOS, click on "VLC" in the upper left corner and then select "Preferences".
- Under "Input/Codecs" you can specify the location where the backup copy should be stored.
- Before you play the DVD, press the combination "Shift" + "R" on your keyboard to start recording.
