Record VLC Player Webcam: How to do it

If you want to record a video with your webcam, you can use VLC media player. Here you will find setting options for the microphone and camera, and you can directly trim the video after recording. First open the player and select "Media" in the menu.

How to record webcam video via VLC Player

The VLC media player lets you record and edit webcam videos. You also have the option to make settings on the camera and microphone even before recording. The videos are automatically saved as soon as you stop recording. If you need more tools to edit your movies, programs like Windows Movie Maker or the professional Adobe Premiere are recommended after recording.

How recording works

1. Start VLC Mediaplayer and click "Media" in the menu at the top.
2. Select "Open Recording Device".
3. A dialog box will open.
4. For "Video Device Name" and "Audio Device Name", find your webcam from the list.
5. If you have a webcam with microphone, both names are identical, otherwise you must select the external microphone under Audio Device Name.
6. If desired, refine the settings under "Advanced Options".
7. Klicken Sie auf „Ziel“ und wählen Sie einen Speicherort für die Videos.
