Resetting the AirPort base station - how to do it

If your AirPort base station shows malfunctions, a hardware reset can already help. To do this, turn off the device completely and press the reset button. If the problems do not disappear, try resetting the device to factory settings. However, all personal settings will be lost.

How to perform a hardware reset

Resetting your AirPort Base Station will delete all personal passwords and settings. Use this step only if problems cannot be solved otherwise. Before that, you can try to perform a hardware reset to fix malfunctions.

1. Verify that the base station is plugged into the power outlet.
2. Press the reset button on the back panel for five seconds.
3. Release when the base station flashes orange.
4. Wait for the device to reboot.
5. On a connected computer, open the "Applications" folder and then "Utilities".
6. Select "Other WLAN Devices".
7. Click "Edit" and then "More Options".
8. Select "Restore Previous Settings".
9. Bestätigen Sie mehrmals mit „Weiter“, ohne andere Einstellungen vorzunehmen und wählen Sie „Fertig“ aus.
10. Die Basisstation kann nun wieder wie gewohnt genutzt werden.

So setzen Sie die Station auf Werkseinstellungen zurück

1. Ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose.
2. Drücken Sie die Reset-Taste auf der Rückseite des Geräts.
3. Verbinden Sie die AirPort Basisstation wieder mit einer Steckdose.
4. Halten Sie die Taste weitere sechs Sekunden gedrückt.
5. Lassen Sie erst los, wenn die Statusanzeige vorne an der Basisstation orange blinkt.
6. Die Station wird nun neustarten. Warten Sie ungefähr eine Minute.
7. Nehmen Sie die Station wieder in Betrieb.
