Unlike in other games, in The Division you gain new abilities not only by leveling up, but by expanding your base of operations. This is the main hub for your agents and is also needed to manage your character, build items and store them. In total, the base of operations in The Division consists of three wings for medicine, technology and security. Once you have found the head of the respective wing in the first main mission, you can start upgrading the wing, unlocking new skills and benefits.

Each wing of the base of operations is upgraded separately, and you can always see the current status of the upgrade by the percentage in the entrance area of the wing.

1. The medical wing of the base of operations can be found on the first floor on the left side. By upgrading this area, you will increase your medic abilities and get more places for medikits.
