Skype: How to set up the software

With Skype you can get in touch with your friends in a special way. The software allows you to add contacts and start phone calls from your computer. Additionally, if another contact also has Skype, you can start chats and even communicate with each other via video conference.

How to set up Skype properly

Before you can use Skype, you need both the software on your computer and a Microsoft account, which you must create before following the steps below.

1. Download Skype from the official website and install the software.
2. Once the program starts, either log in with your existing Microsoft account or create a new one.
3. After signing in, you will already see a list of your contacts on the left. If you do not have any contacts yet, you can select the "New Contact" item under the "Contacts" tab just below the bar.
4. Using a phone number, username, full names or email address, you can search for contacts and then request them.
5. Once a contact is available, left-click to open the chat and start a call.

Skype personalisieren

Wenn Sie nach außen hin als Sie selbst erkannt werden wollen, können Sie Skype dementsprechend anpassen.

1. Klicken Sie oben links auf Ihr Profilbild oder Ihre Initialen und wählen Sie „Skype-Profil“ aus.
2. Hier können Sie beispielsweise einen neuen Namen festlegen und sogar ein Profilbild hochladen.
3. Zudem geben Sie Informationen zu Ihrer Person an.
