Program won't uninstall: These tips will help
If you have a program on your computer that you no longer use, you can usually remove it so that it doesn't take up excess space on your computer. However, if the program won't uninstall, you need to get to the bottom of it.
Windows: program won't uninstall
To uninstall a program in Windows, proceed as follows.
- Open the Control Panel. To do this in Windows 10, simply click the Start menu and type "Control Panel". Then click on the entry. In Windows 7, you can simply find it in the Start menu.
Step 1: Open the Control Panel via the Start menu.
- There, select "Programs > Uninstall programs".
Step 2: Under "Programs", select "Uninstall programs".
- Then click on the program in the list and then click on the "Uninstall" or "Remove" button.
- Now a wizard of the program should open to help you uninstall.
If this does not work, you will receive an error message. If the program is not listed, you should first make sure that it is not malware. As a precaution, check your PC with an antivirus scanner.
Uninstalling software via the program folder
In each program that you download, there is an application file that you can use to uninstall the program. Browse your hard drive in Windows Explorer - often programs are stored in the "Programs", "Programs (x86)" and "%appdata%" folders. Inside the folder, look for a file such as "[program name]Uninstaller.exe".If that does not work either, you should try to install the program again. If the version is faulty, it will be repaired and you can then uninstall the software as usual.
