Mobile phone as a hotspot - how to set it up
Using your own cell phone as a hotspot is handy, especially when you're on the go and there's no WLAN network available to access the Internet with your computer or tablet. Before using the cell phone as a hotspot, however, it is necessary to set it up.
How to configure your cell phone as a hotspot
To use your cell phone as a hotspot, you need to share the device's mobile data. Once you've done that, other phones, tablets or computers can connect to the hotspot you've set up and share your data connection to browse the Internet.- To set up a hotspot on an Android phone, first open the Settings app and navigate to "Wireless & Networks" or "Network & Internet".
- There, select the option "Tethering & mobile hotspot" and tap on "Mobile WLAN hotspot".
- To set up a new hotspot, then tap on "Configure WLAN hotspot" and set a name and password for your hotspot.
- After you have saved all settings by tapping on "Save", you can activate the hotspot by moving the switch next to the hotspot name to the right.
