GEZ: Pay fees by installments - this is how it works

The broadcasting fee, colloquially still known as GEZ fees, continues to catch up with many people. If you are also one of the defaulters and would like to pay a higher amount by installment, we show how.

By installment payment, even larger amounts for the broadcasting fee can be repaid.

By law, every household is obligated to pay the broadcasting fee, even if the services of the public broadcasters are not used. This leads to a low willingness to pay, so that a large number of reminders and requests for payment are sent out every day.

GEZ fees: Installment payment ensures realistic conditions

The application for installment payment can be done conveniently online:

1. Visit rundfunkbeitrag.de/ratenzahlung.
2. Enter your data including contribution number.
3. Determine how high the monthly installments should be.
4. Submit the application electronically.

Your application will now be reviewed and approved if you meet the specified criteria. This includes that you have so far not taken advantage of any installment payment and have not complied, in addition, no enforcement action may have been carried out.Also important is the amount: this must be in reasonable proportion to the arrears. For example, if you have to pay 700 euros in arrears, installment payments of 50 or 100 euros per month are within healthy limits.
