What is chipTAN Postbank? How the number is generated
Nowadays, almost all banks usually offer the possibility to perform your banking transactions via online banking. For this to work, you need a secure TAN procedure. For this purpose, Postbank offers you, for example, the use of chipTAN, for which you need a special TAN generator.
What's behind Postbank's chipTAN
If you are a Postbank customer, you can also conduct your banking transactions via online banking. Since you need a TAN for almost every action via your account, a corresponding procedure is also needed to generate it. For this, Postbank offers you the chipTAN.- For using the chipTAN procedure, you need a special TAN generator and your Postbank Card. The latter must have a chip in the process.
- You can buy the generator directly from Postbank.
- The procedure is based on two-way security, as you always need two separate devices for this. In this case, that is the generator and a PC or laptop with which you can go online.
- The TAN generator itself is not connected to the Internet, which means that the TAN cannot be generated and used by unauthorized third parties.
- Before you can use chipTAN, you must first set up the procedure.
- Log in to your online banking account and click on the person icon at the top right. Then select "Security procedure" > "chipTAB" and follow the wizard.
- To activate your card for chipTAN, insert it into the generator and transfer the data to the display in the browser. Then select "Activate/deactivate card".
