iPhone disabled: Connect to iTunes

If your iPhone is disabled, rescue it by connecting it to iTunes. The lock will kick in if you have entered the code to unlock the device incorrectly too many times. However, if you forget the lock code, resetting it will only succeed under certain circumstances.

No Access: Connect Disabled iPhone to iTunes

To reset your iPhone without losing data, follow these steps. This will only work if you had already synced your iPhone with your computer and iTunes.
  1. Connect your deactivated iPhone to your computer and launch iTunes.
  2. Select your device in the top left corner and make sure you are in the "Overview" menu.
  3. Click "Create Backup Now" in the "Backup" section and wait for this to complete.
  4. Then click "Restore iPhone" at the top.
  5. Once you see the setup screen on iPhone, select "Restore from iTunes Backup".

Maintenance Mode to Erase iPhone

If the above method fails, restoring the device is not possible without data loss. Proceed as follows:
  1. Install iTunes.
  2. Connect the iPhone to a computer and launch iTunes.
  3. Now force a restart: press the Volume Up button and immediately release it. Then press the Volume Down button and release it again as well. Next, press and hold the Power button until you see the Apple logo. For older devices, hold down the Home button and the Power button instead.
  4. Select "Restore" and follow the instructions.
