iPhone X disabled: Re-enable

If you get a message on iPhone X that the device is disabled, the cause is that you have entered your unlock code incorrectly too many times. How you reactivate the iPhone X depends on how many times you have already entered the PIN incorrectly.

iPhone X Re-enable: How long does it take to deactivate

If you entered the unlock code on your iPhone X incorrectly too many times, the device will be deactivated for security reasons. Depending on how many times you have already entered the PIN code incorrectly, you have to wait different lengths of time before your iPhone X is reactivated. If you have entered the code incorrectly six times, the waiting time is initially only one minute. With seven incorrect entries, the waiting time increases to five minutes, with eight incorrect entries to 15 minutes and after nine incorrect entries you have to wait 60 minutes.

How to reactivate a deactivated iPhone X

If you have entered the PIN of the iPhone X incorrectly ten times, it can only be reactivated by restoring the smartphone with iTunes. Please note that this will delete all data on the device and you need to restore them from a backup.
  1. To perform the recovery, first connect the iPhone X by cable to your computer and start iTunes.
  2. Wait until the iPhone X is recognized by iTunes, click on the model name and follow the further instructions on the screen.
  3. If your iPhone X is not recognized by iTunes, it is necessary to put it into maintenance mode. To do this, turn off your device completely and press the "Volume Up Button" and the "Power Button" at the same time.
