Your contacts are stored on your smartphone either in the internal memory or on your SIM card. To avoid losing them if your smartphone crashes or hangs, you can sync the contacts through your Google account. This way, you can access them from anywhere with your Google account afterwards.

How to sync your contacts on Android 9

When you sync your contacts with your Google account, you can access them from other devices where you are logged in with your account. To perform the synchronization, you need to be logged in on the smartphone with your Google data. In addition, you must first activate that the contacts are allowed to be synchronized. The procedure here may differ in some respects depending on the device manufacturer. In most cases, it is just different names.
  1. Swipe upwards on your smartphone to access your apps.
  2. Then open the settings of your smartphone.
  3. Select the entry "Accounts" further down the page.
  4. Next you need to select your Google account. To do this, click on your email address.
  5. Now you can select the item "Account synchronization".
  6. Check whether a check mark is set at "Contacts". On some smartphones, you will see a button here.
  7. If the option is enabled, click on the menu button at the top right.
  8. Click on the "Synchronize now" button here.
