Epic Games Launcher: pros and cons at a glance

Epic Games is heating up the tempers, stone of the stumbling block is the aggressive strategy with which the launcher is supposed to conquer market share. We take an objective look at the advantages and disadvantages of the launcher.

Epic Games Launcher: Advantages and disadvantages compared to Steam

At the start of the Epic Games Launcher, the features were very manageable. For opponents of the launcher, this was a found food, as the disadvantages compared to Steam were quite obvious. In fact, the functionality is nowhere near that of the market leader:

• There is no mod distribution like in the Steam Workshop.
• Also sorely missed were cloud saves, discussion forums, user reviews, the possibility to create groups and broadcasts via stream.
• You also look in vain for screenshot functions.

Most of the features, however, are to be made up for over time. Specifically, Epic Games is currently working on the introduction of cloud storage.The functionality has now been set up for the first two games, namely This War of Mine and Moonlighter. More will follow.Still, the list is long compared to Steam. To compensate for this weakness, Epic Games relies on the most powerful tool, namely exclusive deals on games. And there is also a big advantage for developers / publishers: Epic Games only charges 12 percent commission, while it is 30 percent on Steam.
