Fitting tubeless tires: These steps are necessary

Specially in mountain biking, tubeless tires are becoming increasingly popular. Also road bike riders increasingly rely on the new technology. We explain how to mount them yourself.

No magic: tubeless tires can be mounted yourself with relatively little effort.

To mount tubeless tires, you need not only a rim and casing, but also sealing fluid and rim tape. As tools are also a floor pump and tire change tool required.

So you mount tubeless tires yourself

Proceed as follows:
  1. Stick the rim tape over the outer wheel surface. At the point where the valve is to be placed afterwards, the rim tape may overlap gladly.
  2. Now it goes to the jacket. Pull the tubeless jacket in the normal way on the rim.
  3. Pierce the rim tape at the point that is planned for the valve. Then insert the valve.
  4. Now fill the sealing milk through the open valve.
  5. Then put the air pump and fill the tire as abruptly as possible with air. This serves the sole purpose of making the jacket jump into the correct position.
  6. After that, deflate again.
  7. Turn the tire so that the liquid can distribute evenly.
  8. Mount the tire on the bike and pump it up properly.
Alternatively, you can also fill the sealing liquid without a valve by leaving a piece free at the beginning when mounting the jacket. There you can then fill the liquid. The correct amount of sealant depends on the product and the type of tire - the correct information can be found in the product description.
