Disk not migrated: What you can do now
The fact that a hard disk is not migrated appears as an error message on the screen of Windows users in some cases. Windows 10 in particular is prone to not being able to migrate devices or their drivers.
What can you do if your hard drive fails to migrate?
If your hard drive fails to migrate, it is usually due to one of the following problems:- The hard drive's driver was not cleanly adopted when you switched from a previous version to Windows 10.
- Then you need to reset your BIOS settings to default values and then reboot. A BIOS update can also lead to success.
- For your motherboard, the latest chipset drivers must be installed to detect and migrate hard drives cleanly. So check the versions of the chipset drivers used for existing updates.
- If you have connected the hard drive via a USB socket, you should try changing the socket and the cable. It is possible that the error is simply due to a poor connection between PC and hard drive.
Reinstall device drivers
In addition, it is often helpful to reinstall the drivers of the hard drive.- Enter "Device Manager" in the Windows search and select the entry.
- Now double-click the non-migrated hard drive and select "Drivers > Disable".
- After that, enable them again.
- If this does not succeed, uninstall and delete the drivers. Then restart Windows.
