  • DOC, DOCX, TXT and PDF as well as MOBI, PRC and HTML.
  • In addition, Kindle supports image formats such as JPEG, GIF, PNG or BMP.
  • The Audible audio format (AAX) is also supported.

File formatting for Kindle: How it works

If you want to read files in ePub format on your Kindle as well, you first need to convert them with the help of a tool like Calibre.
  1. Open Calibre and load the desired e-book into the library.
  2. Select the book and click "Convert Books" in the toolbar.
  3. A new window will open where you can specify the format. Select one of the formats supported by Kindle and finally click "Ok".
Alternatively, you can also use the "Send to Device" function. Through it, you can convert individual ePub books from the library and transfer them to Kindle.
