Sending large files: Which way works best?

Have a large file you want to send? Often sending large attachments exceeds the capabilities of free mail providers. An online storage like Dropbox as well as physical USB sticks can help.

Sending large files via cloud

Dropbox gives you up to 2 GB of storage for free - you can expand up to 20 GB. Proceed as follows when sending large files via Dropbox:
  1. Log in to Dropbox and create an account. After that, you can send a wide variety of files from any device, including smartphone or tablet.
  2. To do this, create a shared link for the file you want to share with others.
  3. Copy the link with "Ctrl" + "C" and paste it into an email, text message or chat with the command "Ctrl" + "V".
  4. The recipient can now view or download the file by clicking on the link you sent. This is possible even if the recipient does not have a Dropbox account.
Alternatively to Dropbox, there are other cloud services with free storage space. To the free Google account you have 15 GB Drive available and in the iCloud you have 5GB.

Alternative ways to share large files

If you want to share your files independently of email or cloud provider, you can resort to the classic variant via USB stick. The storage capacity of the data carrier reaches up to 128 GB. If the recipient is in the same network, a transfer via WLAN or LAN connection is also possible. Use the home network to transfer files securely and quickly.
