Windows usually searches for files specified in more detail by the search function. However, if there is no name or file format, you have to proceed differently.

1. If you can narrow down the search at least fundamentally, you can use several search methods within specific directories to track down the desired file.
2. Go to a folder and right-click on a free space in the directory. Make sure you do not select a file but really hit a free area.
3. Now select "Sort" from the menu and select "Size".
4. If you can remember at least the type or content of the file, there is now a good possibility to find the file in the ordered search result.
