How to change cartridges on a Canon printer

Even with your Canon printer, it is inevitable that after a certain number of prints, the ink in the cartridges will run out. In order to continue printing successfully, you need to replace the cartridges.

Before you can replace the cartridges from Canon, you must first purchase them. When doing so, it is important that you definitely pay attention to your printer model. There are many different cartridge shapes that are only suitable for certain printers. As a rule, a printer cartridge can be used for different models. However, even the deviation of one letter at the end of a model name can mean a different print head design.

Changing a cartridge on a Canon printer

Once you have successfully purchased the correct cartridges, you can install them in your printer. When doing so, keep in mind that you should not touch any parts in the printer other than the cartridges.
  1. First, open the cover of your printer and wait until the print head has arranged itself in the designated central position so that you can get a good access to it.
  2. Open the package of the cartridge you want to replace. On the cartridge itself is a plastic strip, which must be pulled off to the side.
  3. Remove the plastic protection on the lower side of the cartridge, remove the empty cartridge from the printer and stow it so that, if possible, nothing can come into contact with the remaining ink.
  4. Now insert the new cartridge into the empty shaft of the print head. Close the printer opening and the printer begins to incorporate the new cartridge.
Finally, you can perform a test print.
