Google Discover: Desktop - how to use the news feed

Through the successor of the Google Feed, Google Discover, you receive headlines and topic suggestions adapted to your interests directly to your smartphone. The news feed is optimized exclusively for mobile devices and does not work on the desktop. There you will have to resort to one of the available alternatives.

Alternative to Google Discover on the desktop

If you want to keep yourself updated with news, you can use Google News on the desktop as an alternative to Google Discover. You can access and customize the news feed conveniently from your browser. Like Google Discover, Google News generates content based on your search queries to show you as much news as possible from your area of interest.Follow these steps to use Google News on your desktop:
  1. Start your browser and access Google.
  2. Click on the Google Apps icon at the top right of the Google website.
  3. Select the Google News app in the overview.

Personalize Google News

As with Google Discover, the newsfeed on Google News is already customized to you through your search queries and via your location. In addition to automatic optimization, Google also offers you ways to manually refine the content of your feed.
  • You can follow specific topics, locations, or sources to get more news from that area of interest. Use the "Favorites" tab on the left side of the navigation to manage your selection.
  • If you would like to receive more, less or even no news on a particular topic, click on the three-dot icon in the news cards and select the appropriate option from the menu.
