Set up Google Discover - how to customize the news feed

With Google Discover, you get a news feed tailored to you on your Android smartphone or tablet. If you want to customize the content or the look of the feed, Google offers a variety of settings options for this, which you can access via the options.

How to set up Google Discover

If you want to set up your Google Discover newsfeed so that it matches your preferences and ideas, this works via the service's settings. For Google Discover to work, you first need to make sure that your web and app activities are turned on. If that's not the case, you can find the appropriate setting for the feature in the activity settings.
  1. Open the Google App.
  2. Tap "More" at the bottom of the navigation and select "Customize Discover" from the menu.
  3. Under "Follow Topics" you can add topic areas that interest you and from which you would like to receive news.
  4. Under "Follow Active" and "Sports" you can find existing topic areas and customize them. You also have the option of deleting individual topics in the various topic areas.
You will then receive news from your chosen areas of interest in your Google Discover feed.

Customize Google Discover via the overview

You can also make changes to Google Discover directly in the overview. To do so, tap the three-dot icon at the top right of a Discover card. You can then choose to follow the topic or delete it from your interests. You can also use the control icon on the cards to adjust the frequency of articles by choosing whether or not you want to see the suggested articles more often.
