Saving a Word document as an HTML file - how to do it

If you want to create an HTML file, a special HTML editor is usually used. However, you do not always need this. Especially not if you already have the document as a Word file. For this reason, the word processing program offers you to save a document as an HTML file.

How to save a Word document as an HTML file

To create an HTML file, you don't always need an HTML editor. Alternatively, you can write your code in a Word document and then save it as an HTML file. For this, only a few steps are necessary in Word.
  1. Start Word and open an empty document.
  2. Now write your HTML code. Note the correct syntax.
  3. Once you have written the code, go to the menu item "File" at the top.
  4. Then select the option "Save as".
  5. Click on the entry "Browse".
  6. In the next window, click on the arrow on the right side at "File type" to open another drop-down menu. Select here the entry "Website" from the list.
  7. In addition, enter a name for your document at "File name". In addition, you can select the desired location for the file.
  8. Have you made all the settings, click on the "Save" button. Then an HTML file file is created and saved in the previously selected location on your system.
