Windows 7: Show RAM - how to do it

Memory (RAM) is an important component of your computer. If your PC has a lot of RAM, the computer will be faster. There are a number of ways you can view which RAM building blocks are installed in your computer and how much RAM is available.

Viewing RAM: How to do it

While your computer is booting up, you can see the number of RAM devices installed and also how much RAM is installed in your PC. Alternatively, go to "Start" > Control Panel and then to "System and Security" and "System". Windows will show you the hardware that is installed in your PC. Under "Installed memory" you can see how much memory your computer has. With the key combination "Windows key" and "Pause" you come immediately into the hardware information.

Display working memory in the task manager

  1. Press the key combination "Ctrl" and "ALT" and "Del".
  2. The "Task Manager" opens.
  3. Make a left click on the tab "Performance".
  4. Click on "Memory".
  5. In the upper right corner you can see how much RAM is installed in your computer.

Display RAM via "Run"

  1. Start "Run" by pressing the "Windows" and "R" keys.
  2. Enter "msinfo32".
  3. Klicken Sie auf „OK“.
