On March 29, 2017, DVB-T was switched off and its successor DVB-T2 was launched. For TV viewers who want to use the full program, there is then no way around Freenet TV. Below you can read the look at the costs, content and technical requirements of the new generation of terrestrial television.

As the public broadcasters continue to be financed by the GEZ, they will also be available free of charge in the coming DVB-T2 era. This also applies to the HD channels of ARD and ZDF.The private channels disappear, however, behind a pay barrier.
  • Freenet TV costs 85 euros annually or 6.99 euros per month.
  • Until the end of June 2017, you could still use the full program free of charge, since July 1, 2017, it is subject to a fee.
  • Included are about 20 private and 20 free-to-air programs, including all popular private channels such as Pro7, Sat1 and RTL, all in HD quality.
  • In addition, you as a customer get access to Freenet TV connect as well as online access to the offer, in which you stream the aforementioned channels over the Internet.

Freenet TV: These are the technical requirements

You need the official decoder, since the private channels transmit their program only encrypted. You can order online. The public broadcasters you receive now as well as in the future without decoder. You also need an end device that is suitable for DVB-T2 HD. All TVs of the 4K generation are marked with the green DVB-T2 logo. If you have an older device, a new receiver is sufficient.
