Star Citizen: How to use Director Mode

A final release of Star Citizen seems utopian to more and more gamers. But after all, the space simulation can already do one thing very well, namely look impressive. The Director Mode comes in handy.

Director in space: The Director Mode allows the desired perspective in Star Citizen.

Many Star Citizen players call themselves hobby photographers, because the game offers so many photogenic views. These can be captured all the better in Director Mode.

Here is the overview of the keys that lead to Director Mode and its operation:
  • First, press "F4" twice to enter Free Mode - this is Director Mode.
  • With pressed "Y" key (on German keyboards) you can move the view freely by mouse.
  • With pressed "F4" key and "+" or "-" you change the depth of the field.
  • With pressed "F4" key and "Pos1" or "End" you create a depth blur.
  • Analogously, you can change the height of the camera with pressed "F4" key with "Page up" and "Page down".
  • In addition: If you hold down "F4", you can zoom in or out with the mouse wheel.
If you particularly like a perspective in Director Mode, you can save it as a preset, i.e. preset. Nine presets are possible, matching the nine number buttons on the numpad. To save a setting, hold down "F4" and then press and hold one of the nine keys - the preset will be saved there after a short time.In the same way, you can load a preset at any time, and do so by holding down "F4" again, but pressing the Num key only once.
