Calling BIOS - how to get to the boot menu

To determine whether your computer should boot from the internal hard drive or an external drive, it is necessary to call the BIOS. This can be done on most computers by pressing a specific key or using a key combination.

These are the keys you use to enter the BIOS

To enter the BIOS of your PC or laptop, you need to press a specific key or key combination during the boot process. Which key has to be pressed to open the BIOS menu varies from computer to computer and is usually shown on the display during the startup process. If this is not the case with your device, try the following key combinations:
  1. On most computers, you can enter the BIOS menu by pressing the "Del" key.
  2. Often, however, the BIOS is also opened by pressing a function key. These are most often the keys "F1", "F2", "F8" or "F10".
  3. Slightly less frequently, the BIOS menu can be started by pressing the Tab key on your computer keyboard.
  4. If none of the previously mentioned keys work, try "Ctrl" and "Alt" at the same time and also press either the "Esc" key or "S".

Call BIOS: How to adjust the boot order

Have you successfully called the BIOS of your computer, you have there the possibility to view the current boot order of the computer and adjust it. To do this, navigate to the "Boot" entry using the arrow keys and confirm with the "Enter" key. Then select the item "Boot Device Priority" and press the Enter key again to get to the overview of all existing drives and move their order with the arrow keys.
