Calling BIOS - how to get to the boot menu
To determine whether your computer should boot from the internal hard drive or an external drive, it is necessary to call the BIOS. This can be done on most computers by pressing a specific key or using a key combination.
These are the keys you use to enter the BIOS
To enter the BIOS of your PC or laptop, you need to press a specific key or key combination during the boot process. Which key has to be pressed to open the BIOS menu varies from computer to computer and is usually shown on the display during the startup process. If this is not the case with your device, try the following key combinations:- On most computers, you can enter the BIOS menu by pressing the "Del" key.
- Often, however, the BIOS is also opened by pressing a function key. These are most often the keys "F1", "F2", "F8" or "F10".
- Slightly less frequently, the BIOS menu can be started by pressing the Tab key on your computer keyboard.
- If none of the previously mentioned keys work, try "Ctrl" and "Alt" at the same time and also press either the "Esc" key or "S".
