Android: Remove ads - these are your options

If you don't want to constantly see ads while using your Android smartphone or tablet, simply remove them. Here you have several options to choose from to prevent ads, pop-ups or personalized ads from appearing.

How to get rid of ads on Android

When you surf the web on your Android device using the Chrome browser, it often happens that you are shown ads. To block the appearance of ads, please open the Chrome browser first.
  1. In the Chrome app, then tap the three dots in the top right corner to open the menu and select "Settings".
  2. In the settings, please go to "Advanced" > "Privacy and Security" > "Website Settings" and click the "Advertising" entry.
  3. Now move the slider located there so that it is gray instead of blue.
  4. In addition, to block the appearance of pop-up ads in Chrome, click instead of "Advertising" on "Pop-ups and redirects" and move the slider to the left.

Android: How to remove personalized advertising

If it bothers you that you are repeatedly shown personalized advertising from Google while surfing on your Android smartphone, there is the possibility to disable this. To do this, please call up the "addsettings.google.com" website in your browser and log into your Google account with your e-mail address and the corresponding password. Then move the slider next to the "Personalized advertising" entry so that it is grayed out.
