Setting music as your Android ringtone - how to get it done easily

Every Android phone has a default ringtone, but it is not to everyone's taste. However, you have the option to set your own music track as a ringtone for your smartphone, so you can recognize calls directly from your favorite song. This is how you personalize your phone.

Set new ringtone

If you want to change your ringtone, there are several options. For example, you can use one of your phone's default tones or set your own audio file as your ringtone. If you bought the song from Google Play Music, then you have to download it via your music library and move it to the "Ringtones" folder of your smartphone via your computer.

How can you set your music as Android ringtone?

  1. If you choose your own song as ringtone, it will start from the beginning when you make a call. If you don't want this, you have to use a tool like mp3DirectCut to cut the audio file so that you have the part you want to use as a clipping. You can also cut, save and select this excerpt using your Android phone.
  2. The ringtone should be at least 30 to 40 seconds long. However, you can also set an entire song from your library as the ringtone. Once you have saved the snippet of the audio file, you need to drag it from your computer to your smartphone or save it to your device using Ringdroid. Then you should install the app "ES File Explorer".
  3. Next you need to open the settings on your Android phone, select the menu item "Sounds" and open the "ES File Explorer" under the option "Ringtone". After that, navigate to the directory where your tone is saved.
