iPhone: own music as ringtone
If you are dissatisfied with the pre-installed ringtones on your iPhone, you can easily use your favorite songs as notification sounds.
First, you need to create the ringtone - so that you can use the song you want, you need to choose a section of no more than 30 seconds. If the sound you want is already within the length specification, you can skip to the next section. This is what you can do if you want to set your own music as a ringtone:
- Start iTunes.
- Right-click the song and select "Information".
- Switch to the "Options" tab, you can set a start and stop time. Listen to the song beforehand to select a suitable start.
- Click "OK", a copy of the song will be saved in iTunes.
- Move the file to a place where you can find it quickly - for example, on the desktop.
- The file must now be converted to the iPhone ringtone format MR4. To do this, download free software such as RingtoneMaker. Alternatively, use the web apps Make Your Own Ringtone or Online MP3 Cutter.
