iOS 12: Create your own emojis - how it works

Since the update to iOS version 12, users can now create their own emojis to use within a chat on iMessage. However, the emojis are not free of restrictions. For example, users can only create a personalized version of a human emoji, but cannot use their own graphics.

iOS 12: Create your own emojis thanks to Animoji

In order to create and use your own emoji, you must first enable Animojis for iMessenger. You can customize this option in the settings.

1. Now to create a personalized emoji, you need to switch to iMessenger and start or open a chat.
2. Over the keyboard you will find various icons, through which further options can be triggered.
3. One of these icons is a screaming monkey, which you now select.
4. The keyboard is now replaced by a plus sign, which you can now also select.
5. After you have clicked through the greeting, you can start creating your own emoji.

iOS 12: What the emoji editor can do

1. The editor for your own emoji reminds a bit of the character creation in a video game.
