Sky Q: Format hard drive - here's how to do it

The integrated hard drive of your Sky Q receiver stores all recordings, offline content and other media content. If the hard drive causes problems or is full, you can format it via the settings of your Sky Q receiver in just a few steps and thus completely reset it.

How to format the hard drive of your Sky Q receiver

If you want to format the hard drive of your Sky Q receiver, this works via the settings of the device. Note that this will irrevocably delete all recordings and stored media content stored on the hard drive. Only the saved settings will not be reset by formatting the disk and will remain intact. Follow these steps to format the hard drive of your Sky Q receiver:
  1. Press the Home button on the remote control and select "My Sky Q".
  2. Call the settings via the "My Sky Q" menu.
  3. Now press the buttons 0, 0, 1 in succession and finally confirm the entry with "OK".
  4. The entered code then opens a hidden menu. There, first select the option "Reset" and then "Reset Hard Disk" and press "OK" again.
  5. To start formatting, select "Confirm" and press "OK".
During formatting, the blue LED on the front of the receiver pulses. In addition, the receiver will reboot several times during the process and various messages will be displayed on the screen. Formatting is complete when the blue LED stops pulsing and no new messages appear. The receiver can then be started again as usual via the home button.
