Saving screenshots in Dropbox: how it works

For many generations, you've been able to take screenshots in Windows using the "Print" button. With Dropbox, however, you can save them directly. Our guide explains how.

Dropbox helps: saving screenshots directly is more than convenient.

By default, "print" screenshots are cached, so another service like MS Paint is needed to save them permanently (more info here). This means more effort and is sometimes even very inconvenient.

How to save screenshots to your Dropbox

Automatic saving to your Dropbox is therefore very convenient. As a prerequisite, you need to install the Dropbox desktop app. Once this is done, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click on the Dropbox icon in the menu bar. This will open the Dropbox window.
  2. Click on your profile icon in the top right corner and select "Settings".
  3. Open the "Import" tab and check "Share screenshots with Dropbox".
  4. Click "Apply" at the bottom right of the window.
Now, as soon as you take a screenshot via "Print" button, it will be automatically saved as a PNG file in your Dropbox, in the "Screenshots" subfolder.
