Sharing AirPods: Setting the headphones correctly

When sharing Apple AirPods, you should enable the Mono Audio option in the AirPod app settings beforehand. Then the same audio file will be played through both headphones and you will avoid some audio tracks being heard only on one of the headphones.

Listening in pairs with Apple AirPods

If you use Apple AirPods wireless headphones, you can of course share them with a friend. In doing so, each person simply uses one of the AirPods. When doing so, make sure that both users are within Bluetooth range of the device through which the audio file is being played. When sharing AirPods, some music may cause both users to hear different versions of the same song. This is because different audio tracks are used, each of which can only be heard in one ear. This is supposed to make the music seem more spatial. This technique is also used in some audio games. Therefore, to ensure that both users hear the full file when sharing, you need to enable the Mono Audio option. This can be found in the settings of your AirPod app.

How to set the headphones

  1. Open the AirPod app on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Select "General".
  3. Tippen Sie auf „Bedienungshilfen“.
  4. Unten wählen Sie den Menüpunkt „Hören“ aus.
  5. Setzen Sie einen Haken neben der Option „Mono-Audio“.
  6. Sie können die AirPods nun verwenden.
