Clearing Windows 7 cache - how to do it

When you surf the Internet with your Windows PC and call up various pages, your computer stores these contents in a cache, which is also called a cache. To rid your PC of unnecessary data junk, the cache should be emptied regularly.

Clear browser cache in Microsoft Edge

How to remove unnecessary data from your cache:
  1. Open Microsoft Edge browser and press "Ctrl" + "Shift" and "Del" keys simultaneously. A new window will then open.
  2. Now select the time period from which the cache should be cleared.
  3. Confirm with a check mark that images and files in the cache should be deleted.
  4. Finally press "Clear browser data". Your cache in Microsoft Edge has now been cleared.

Clear browser cache in Internet Explorer

If you go to the Internet via Internet Explorer, you have to proceed differently to clear the cache.
  1. Open Internet Explorer and go to the gear icon in the upper right corner.
  2. Now select "Internet Options".
  3. After that, click on "General" and then on "Browsing History".
  4. Now you can go to the "Clear" field via the "Browsing History" category.
  5. Finally, select "Clear Browsing History" and confirm your selection with "OK". The cache of your PC will be emptied afterwards.
Please note that support for Windows 7 and also for Internet Explorer have been discontinued. Therefore, no more important security updates are distributed. It is best to upgrade to Windows 10 for free.
