Connecting Fire TV Stick with Echo Dot: How it works

Those who own a Fire TV Stick and an Echo device can connect the two gadgets to take full advantage of voice control. Our guide explains how.

Remote control without hands: Echo Dot makes it possible.

With an Echo device, you can also control your Fire TV Stick by voice. This is convenient because you no longer need a remote control when streaming.

How to connect your Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot

First, make sure both your Alexa app and your Fire TV Stick's firmware are up to date. Then proceed as follows:
  1. Open the Alexa app (for example, on your smartphone).
  2. Open the "Settings".
  3. Select "Fire TV" under "TV & Video".
  4. Follow the specified steps up to "Link Devices".
Here you can select for which devices you want to connect, for example, if you have multiple Echo Dots. Then you can control the streaming content with your voice, the Echo device must of course be in listening range for this. You can search and start titles this way, pause a movie and change channels - so everything you can do with a remote control too, just much more convenient.
