What is an LTE box? For this you need the box
For people who do not have a DSL connection in their house or apartment, buying or renting an LTE box is interesting. What exactly is an LTE box and how to connect it properly, we explain in our article step by step.
How an LTE box works
An LTE box, also known as a 4G router, is a special router that uses the LTE mobile standard instead of DSL to surf the Internet. The use of an LTE box is particularly useful in areas with poor DSL coverage or when access to the Internet via cable or DSL is not possible. Often, LTE boxes are also used as a backup solution, which are used if the DSL connection fails once.- Unlike classic DSL, LTE requires a SIM card that is inserted into the corresponding slot of the LTE box.
- It is important that the SIM card has a sufficiently large data volume, since the mobile network is used to establish an Internet connection.
- In addition to the pure LTE boxes, there are also so-called hybrid routers that have LTE or 4G as a supplement to DSL. So far, however, there are only two providers, AVM and Telekom, which have such hybrid routers in the offer.
